THE CHALLENGE IS ON

A big thank you to Fuzzy Logic for providing the custom riding pants for the challenge..I can hardly "weight"

Weigh in # 5 218 LBS WOO HOO ....60 lbs down the drain . One month to go and the heat is on .......however from the picture you can see unfortunatly not in the hills of West Kelowna .As you can see from the photo most of our training still remains in the snow which is much like running in sand therefore I believe it has been a great addage for Sexy Rexy's conditioning . Gotta run trails to conquer and mountains to charge

Month Four

March weigh

in@ 228 LBS

Two months to go and all us going well .....This promise I made is putting me through hell.... I grunt and I groan In this new gym that I own..... I am told it is for the better this sweat that I give..... I have heard a rumour it will determine how long I live ......This I am not sure as my horse is the judge..... I have had my fair share of landing in the sludge .....This riding I will master and learn to ride quick..... The fact I wear tights now makes me sick ........I have learned to canter ,to gallop and to trot learning to stay seated sure hits spot .....I now sit in the saddle with a smile on my face ......Anxious to get to my first Rock Creek Race .....I am curious to know and to learn my new fate Oh hey .....Did I mention I just pinched the scale at two twenty eight .

CAN IT BE DONE ?

Can an absolute green rider and a fresh mature horse, under guidance and elite mentor ship, be ready (in less than six months) for a 50 mile ride on one of the toughest Endurance rides in B.C.? HOW IT BEGAN: On November 13th, at the AGM in the hopes to raise funds for ERABC through a donation made by Gail and Elroy, I decided to sweeten the pot by offering a bonus brought on by a chronic case of liquid encouragement. The deal was simple.Whoever purchased the Trailer Eyes, I would ride the fifty mile race at Rock Creek along with them. Below you will find the link to the ERABC media channel and witness my verbal catastrophe for yourself. This channel will also be used for updates and eventually used for displaying footage of our rides and events (it would be a good idea to bookmark it). http://www.youtube.com/user/endridebc?feature=mhum THE AFTERMATH: After waking up the next morning the reality began to set in. I was reminded by my wife with the question: Do you have any idea what you have gotten yourself into?

For most of you endurance riders I imagine you are saying 50 miles no big deal. The humorous point to ponder, is the fact, up until a week ago I didn’t even know which end of a halter was up. For those that know me I am sure it would be safe to say that my athletic build isn't at an all time high, certainly not ready to take on 10 miles let alone 50.

Second part of the equation is my mature horse "Sexy Rexy" (my wife purchased him for me for our anniversary) regardless of the condition he is in, carrying 278 lbs around the hills of rock creek is a pretty tall order especially for his first race.

MY PLEDGE AND YOURS In preparation for my first race I have been heavily (or should I say strongly) advised the weight should come off. I have no doubt in my mind that would be a wise choice for both horse and myself. Taking this to task whole hearted, I began my journey on Monday Nov 15th towards a massive weight loss of 78 to 80 lbs in less than 6 months. In hopes to further my fundraising efforts for the ERABC, I pledge and promise to you, to achieve the 200 pound mark and complete the Rock Creek 50 mile endurance race on May 2011. The pledge and encouragement I ask of you, is to consider the fact of a per pound monetary amount with everything raised going towards our ERABC club. Do what you can and don't worry about breaking the bank, everything counts. Also, if you could do me a big favour ? please make aware and let the folks you know (friends, family, co-workers and neighbors) to keep on eye on the progression (the more hits we have on our channel the better). That would be great!

The PLEDGE FORM can be found HERE or on our ERABC club site: www.erabc.com HAVE NO WORRIES :o) For some, completing this task may sound a bit over the hill, and allot to chew off. We are here to guarantee our first level of commitment and priority is: safety and security for both horse and rider.

Never have I pressed to convey this message as hard as I do now my friends "TO FINISH IS TO WIN"
