For most of you endurance riders I imagine you are saying 50 miles no big deal. The humorous point to ponder, is the fact, up until a week ago I didn’t even know which end of a halter was up. For those that know me I am sure it would be safe to say that my athletic build isn't at an all time high, certainly not ready to take on 10 miles let alone 50.
Second part of the equation is my mature horse "Sexy Rexy" (my wife purchased him for me for our anniversary) regardless of the condition he is in, carrying 278 lbs around the hills of rock creek is a pretty tall order especially for his first race.
MY PLEDGE AND YOURS In preparation for my first race I have been heavily (or should I say strongly) advised the weight should come off. I have no doubt in my mind that would be a wise choice for both horse and myself. Taking this to task whole hearted, I began my journey on Monday Nov 15th towards a massive weight loss of 78 to 80 lbs in less than 6 months. In hopes to further my fundraising efforts for the ERABC, I pledge and promise to you, to achieve the 200 pound mark and complete the Rock Creek 50 mile endurance race on May 2011. The pledge and encouragement I ask of you, is to consider the fact of a per pound monetary amount with everything raised going towards our ERABC club. Do what you can and don't worry about breaking the bank, everything counts. Also, if you could do me a big favour ? please make aware and let the folks you know (friends, family, co-workers and neighbors) to keep on eye on the progression (the more hits we have on our channel the better). That would be great!
The PLEDGE FORM can be found HERE or on our ERABC club site: www.erabc.com HAVE NO WORRIES :o) For some, completing this task may sound a bit over the hill, and allot to chew off. We are here to guarantee our first level of commitment and priority is: safety and security for both horse and rider.
Never have I pressed to convey this message as hard as I do now my friends "TO FINISH IS TO WIN"
